Nelson-based airline, Originair landed its first direct flight from Nelson to Hawke’s Bay Airport on the 22nd of October. The flight marks the beginning of the Originair service which will connect Hawke’s Bay directly to Nelson, Palmerston North and eventually Hamilton. It’s aviation tradition for a new airline connection to be recognised with a water cannon salute and a celebration cake, and Hawke’s Bay Airport didn’t disappoint with a stellar water display.
Hawke’s Bay Airport is dedicated to becoming New Zealand’s most sustainable airport. Living true to that promise means being dedicated to a long-term sustainability strategy. On the 1st of November, Hawke’s Bay Airport announced a multi-million-dollar sustainability linked loan with ASB Bank. The first of it’s kind for ASB, the loan links debt funding to measurable and verifiable sustainability performance targets. For Hawke’s Bay Airport, that means achieving level 3 & 4 Airport Carbon Accreditation and becoming net-zero by 2030. Exciting stuff and something the Hawke’s Bay Airport team is extremely proud of and committed to.
