Saturday 29 July was one of those stunning Hawke’s Bay winter mornings - cold start but with brilliant warming sunshine that was most welcome given that was the date for the Des Ratima memorial planting. What a great day it was with many people coming out to show their respect for Des and help plant many great species that will be a living and growing memorial for Des which is totally fitting.
This article at Hawke’s Bay Today sums it up well:
We heard from Evelyn and then some great words from Charles Daugherty as to how important Des was to Biodiversity Hawke’s Bay and then it was a great team effort that has the site looking wonderful.
Special thanks to the organisations that supported us including the Hawke’s Bay Regional and Hastings District Councils.
An extra special thanks to Belinda who was project manager for it all and did a wonderful job getting it all organised and such a success.
